Ngee Ann, Makan Place, Korean Teppan!! :o

Photobucket
Korean Teppan?!?!? The word Teppan used in that context i think refers to Tepanyaki, basically grilling off meat, and in the Singaporean food court sort of way, frying meat on a flat top grill. -_-
So what did this stall have to offer? U guessed it! Slices of meat "grilled" on a flat top grill at the cost of at least $3 per meal, menu includes ur meat sets(chicken, pork, fish, beef (which of course cost 30 cents more....cause its beef. -_-) and comes with ur standard kimchi and beansprouts and rice. What about the soup? D: D: THERE ISNT ANY!! not that it matters much anywayz. Just that, eating in foodcourts and not getting complimentary soup with a meal feels quite wierd. :P Oh oh, and they were also serving up Bibimpap and i think it was Beef/Pork Ramen Soup?!? Or some noodle thing, but Damn, they seriously gotta stop with the Japanese cross overs if it was ramen.

From that tight selection of items on the menu, i went with what the guy infront of me ordered, the Pork teppan. Which is the picture above ^ ^ ^ and below *down* down*
Before the food is handed over to you, the auntie would offer you 2 sauces, Honey and Curry. I went with the Honey (Obviously. =.=" pic says it all, u wont expect brown translucent like sauce to be curry would you?)

Comments:
Kimchi was good. U needa be such a loser to screw it up. Well, kimchi can either be good, very good, OMGWTH$%^* IMBA, or just plain awesome. The Bean sprouts was ur standard korean shop item, same comments as with the kimchi.

The chef did the best thing ANYONE could ever do, which is leave somebits of fat on the meat. :) Grilled fat, could nvr get enough of it right? Yummehhhhhh, Nom nom nom.

The meat also had the nice char-grilled taste, that might not be so obvious on the first few bites, but would get to you after a while.

And as for the sauce? Since they were kinda generous with it, it started tasting quite addictive, in the not so overwelming honey sort of way. Basically, it was like honey, but without that guilty heavy sorta feel after eating lots of eat, and not so sticky so you could drink more sauce! What would be perfect was giving us one small bowl filled with honey sauce....Soup Substitude. :D

Verdict:
Yes i would definitely go back to buy from them again, sometime in future.... But i wont recomend it to friends visiting Ngee Ann for the 1st time. As there are much better options around.

Other then that it just as nice as the normal ice kachang. But one thing about this stall is the whole ice kachang is really sweet and also top with lost of gula melaka. Do give it a try if you have a sweet tooth.

SP fc 6 ,yong tau fu

Yong Tau Fu
Yong tau foo ( also spelled yong tao foo, yong tau fu, or yong tau hu yong tofu) is a Chinese soup dish with Hakka origins commonly found in China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. There are also Teochew and Hokkien variations.

But what so nice about this yong tau foo is the soup base. it not your normal soup you would normally have out side, its its own curry base soup. which is so nice.. with this base.. it just make the whole dish so much more appealing to eat.

Curry: The magic is in the soup base curry not too thin and not too mild. it will give your nose a  nice warm feeling after u finish the whole bowl. it make u want to just finish the whole bowl up.

Rice: normal type rice you will find at home.

Stuff in side: choose from 7 or more different type of food..in which u can mix and match.

overall: 3.5/5

Curry (カレー karē) is one of the most popular dishes in Japan. It is commonly served in three main forms: curry rice (カレーライス karē raisu), karē udon (thick noodles) and karē-pan (bread). Curry rice is most commonly referred to simply as 'curry' (カレー karē).
A wide variety of vegetables and meats are used to make Japanese curry. The basic vegetables are onions, carrots, and potatoes. For the meat, beef, pork, chicken and sometimes duck are the most popular. Katsu-karē is a breaded deep-fried pork cutlet with curry sauce.
Curry was introduced to Japan during the Meiji era (1869–1913) by the British, at a time when India was under the administration of the British. The dish became popular and available for purchase in supermarkets and restaurants in the late 1960s. It has been adapted since its introduction to Japan, and is so widely consumed that it can be called a national dish.

So what we have here for to day is curry rice (カレーライス karē raisu) but not from japan. Its from Singapore. NP. Took me awhile to find the store. but when i found it, the front of the store is full of food recommendation  from tv. One thing important is the curry. Japan curry taste different from the Singaporean style of curry you would find here. it have a mild taste to it.. not very spicy but still hold the nice taste of the curry. you could just drink it like a soup. it so nice.

The curry: taste like wat your would find out side.. in shopping centers. very nicely done.
The meat:. Normal meal.. not too oily and not too hard to bite on.
The rice: could be improve by using japan short grain rice. but the rice they use have a home feeling.. of Singapore style rice

over all rating. 4/5

Food Court 6

Foodcourt 6 is very near the school of DMIT. Its pretty much where my classmates and I eat every lunch.
  • The rice is not your typical Chicken Rice rice, however the sauce tries to make up for it
  • The chicken's skin is roasted till its sometimes crispy... I usually prefer the soft roasted chicken skin marinated to perfection :(
  • The chicken soup tastes like the regular soup that comes with the dish, nothing special.
  • Bo cucumber.
At $2.20 it gets a 3.5 out of 5. I added rice, usual price $2.00. Quite cheap leh.
